How we separated the picks

Every password manager here fills logins on the sites you visit, so every one needs broad page access—that part is unavoidable. The differences that matter are the vault behind the extension, how far the free plan stretches, and how each extension's own store record holds up. We took plan terms and code transparency from each developer's site, and ratings, adoption, upkeep, and disclosed data categories from the live Chrome Web Store listings, checked October 12, 2026.

What to check before installing

  1. Choose the vault, not just the extension: the add-on is only as trustworthy as the account and encryption model behind it.
  2. Check the free plan against your devices—one-device and one-device-type limits are where free tiers differ most.
  3. Turn on two-step login for the vault itself and keep the recovery method somewhere offline.
  4. Run one autofill manager at a time, and delete any unencrypted export file once an import finishes.
