What Dashlane is

The extension saves and autofills logins, payment cards, and personal details, generates passwords, and syncs a vault Dashlane describes as zero-knowledge across devices. Dark web monitoring and a Password Health score flag weak, reused, or exposed logins; Premium covers one person and Friends & Family up to 10.

Is Dashlane safe to use?

Dashlane is a reasonable choice for paying users: a strong rating on a large sample, current updates, and a zero-knowledge vault the developer documents. Weigh its broader-than-usual listing disclosure, which adds web history and location to the expected credential and payment data, and the fact that every plan is now paid.

Page access Broad

Requests page-content access across sites. Broad access is not itself a red flag — the question is whether the job justifies the reach, and whether the publisher's record earns it.

Autofill for logins, cards, addresses, and IDs means reading and filling form fields on the sites you visit, so the extension requests broad site access. Narrowing it to on-click in Chrome reduces exposure on sites where you never sign in, but turns off automatic fill prompts.

Store-disclosed data

  • Personally identifiable information
  • Financial and payment information
  • Authentication information
  • Location
  • Web history
  • User activity

The listing names personally identifiable information, financial and payment information, authentication information, location, web history, and user activity. Credentials and card data are inherent to the job; web history and location go further than most vaults disclose. Dashlane says its zero-knowledge design keeps vault contents unreadable to the company.

Does Dashlane still have a free plan?

No. Dashlane discontinued its Free plan on September 16, 2025. Personal users now choose Premium or Friends & Family, and Dashlane offers a 14-day Premium trial before payment.

What data does Dashlane's Chrome listing disclose?

Six categories: personally identifiable information, financial and payment information, authentication information, location, web history, and user activity. Credentials and payment data are expected for a password manager; web history and location are less common and worth checking in Dashlane's privacy policy.

Can Dashlane read my stored passwords?

Dashlane says its zero-knowledge architecture means it cannot see vault contents, and its support pages say no one at Dashlane knows your master password or can send it to you. That design is the main safeguard, so choose a strong master password.
